Keys To The Garden Gate...a free gardening e-book 2/18/05

"Hi! I somehow stumbled across your web site while looking up the Davis Hill weather stick from VT. Anyway, your book sounds very interesting and informative and I would like to buy a copy. Barnes and Noble didn't have a clue, and were unable to help me. Thank you for your time and information. J. B."

Actually, it can't be bought....that's why BN didn't have a clue.  Several large and small book publishers turned their collective noses upward upon cursory glances at the manuscripts...because, I suppose, there were no pictures to speak of...and the writing style is somewhat terse and "in your face."  So I did it myself!

The thinking: In this case, at least, page after page of pretty pictures would be a distraction from the message I felt a real need to convey — responsible, informed gardening.   Originally the book was self-published on paper and the original 250 spiral-bound copies went like hot cakes. Well....almost that quickly. Then I found myself feeling a little guilty for charging for something that I thought every gardener — or aspiring gardener — should have totally free access to. That's when I dropped the entire work onto the Web where it's a free-to-read-and-own download and can be freely distributed — without changes, additions or edits — if a reader felt so inclined. No one is to financially profit. You'll find it at: http://www.hillgardens.com/libragardinale_tr26057.htm.

Probably the simplest would be to go to "File"..."Save as"...then "Web Page Complete". You could save it to your Desktop...that way it'll be right where you can see it to open and read...or print. It'll want to print on about 135 or so 8 1/2 x 11 sheets.

Given an inch stack of paper and a little black printer ink....total cost would probably be under a five-spot...plus about an hour printing time. A lot less than the original $24.50 purchase price. Last week I began actually installing links from the Index to appropriate text. It's a tedious task that will probably take years to complete.
